About
I grew up in a Hindu home that was very loving. As a young girl, I loved going to places of worship with my family, but I was not receiving what I was searching for in my heart. I began to ask the Lord in my private time of prayer to reveal who He is to me and He did. I will never forget the day I got to know Jesus; He changed my life. I invited Him into my heart and never looked back. As a teenager, I began my walk with the Lord to find the truth I was seeking. At that point, my trials became stronger as I chose this new path. I remember asking God if walking with Him would always be this challenging. I was broken and hurt; I felt my life was over. It was not meaningful anymore. I was faced with difficult circumstances, I just wanted to die.
Despite my pains, I held my faith in God. I left my homeland and went to live in the United States. It was a big step of faith for me because I was always protected by my parents and grandmother, who played an important role in my life. Here I was going to a big city to live with a family I had only made contact through an ad in the newspaper. As time passed and things got finalized, I met her sister who lived in Trinidad and it gave me a bit of assurance. After meeting her, I knew in my heart it was the Lord who was guiding me to take this step of faith. I knew if I wanted to begin a new life I had to leave my past behind. Sometimes in life, we need to let go of the people we love to make transitions and mine was my family. This was the most difficult decision that I had made because family is everything to me. Giving up and letting go of that season positioned me to a new path for restoration and healing to take its course.
I lived with this family for several years. They loved and cared for me like I was a member of their family. Here I was on a mission, growing and trusting in the Lord as he brought amazing friends to guide, teach and mentor me along this journey. As time passed, I grew stronger. I was being healed from the wounds of my past and I had happier days. Again, another transition took place. I got married and moved away. I was finally happy. I thought I was going to have my happily ever after when tragedy came unexpectedly. A few years into my marriage my husband was diagnosed with Lymphoma and he died. My family, friends, and church family had been praying for his recovery. It happened so suddenly; I was in so much grief. I was silent and numb in this season, but prayer kept ruling day and night in my heart. It had been the most challenging season in my life, but my faith in God never wavered. I stood anchored in Him more than ever.
